Placing the Porcelain Veneers

About a week after you preview your results with us, you'll return to the office to receive your veneers.

To place a veneer, a small amount of enamel will be removed from the surface of each treated tooth so the veneer can lie flush with surrounding teeth. This process is virtually painless. Depending on the type of veneer, teeth will either be prepped at the same time as impressions and given temporary veneers, or prepped right before final veneer placement.

Brush and Floss

A benefit of veneers is that they're permanently fixed to your natural teeth, which means you can care for them like natural teeth. Continue to brush your teeth twice a day and floss every day. These habits will help you maintain good oral health with veneers.

Visit the Dentist

Continue to visit Dr. Lerner twice each year at our East Brunswick dental office. You can still get cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues while you have dental veneers, so dental visits are essential to spotting these concerns early on.

Avoid Bad Habits

While porcelain veneers are highly durable, they can chip and crack just like natural teeth. Avoid bad habits like opening packages with your teeth, chewing on ice, or chewing on your fingernails to maintain the integrity of your dental veneers.

Prevent Stains

Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, but just like natural teeth they can discolor over time, especially around the edges of the veneer. Limit dark-colored foods and drinks, or drink these liquids from a straw and rinse your mouth with water after eating.
